Certified Shimano Crankset Inspection Station in Florida

Designed for both road and mountain biking, these 11-speed cranksets were a popular choice for many bikes and riders and were sold in many bike shops in Florida and Alabama. Due to their expertise and specific training on this issue, Shimano has designated Playtri as a Certified Inspection Station in Florida where customers can bring their bike in for inspection of the affected cranksets and Playtri will determine if your crankset is a faulty one, in which case it will be replaced at no charge.

If you have a Shimano Hollowtech crankset, it is highly recommended that you bring in your bike to Playtri for inspection before any further activity on your bike; there is no cost for this inspection. This was a very popular crankset for bicycles of different manufacturers and owners are to encouraged to get the inspection done prior to any more riding, as there is the possibility of delamination and bonding separation that can occur in affected models. If you think you have heard or noticed any differences in the crank while you are pedaling, please do not use your bicycle any more, but bring it into the shop for an inspection. The affected cranksets have been known to fail and in an abundance of caution, we encourage riders to not use their bikes until a thorough inspection has been performed.

This is a voluntary recall by Shimano starting on Oct 1, 2023, and in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Playtri of Fort Walton Beach in Florida can be contacted about the affected cranksets by calling 850-374-8797 for further information.
